    Got 'em movin'

Hehe, on my way home today an opportunity arose that I just couldn't pass up.

The three neighbor girls were out in the street riding their scooters as I made the turn onto my street. There are a couple drive approaches directly across from each other that they like to go back and forth on. The street is pretty calm, hardly any through traffic at all. The kids will play out there quite a bit.

So, as I made the corner these three little girls were out in the middle of the street chatting and calmly riding their scooters, not even looking back to the sound of a car coming.

I pushed the clutch in and smashed on the gas. I'm not used to flooring it without being in gear so the engine ended up turning over 5500 RPM (didn't really want to do that...). You should have seen them jump!

My car isn't exactly the quietest thing. The pair of Midas Turbos on 2" dual pipes with a crosspipe hooking up to a set of headers attached to my 350 V8 have a distinctive sound. That roar really got 'em moving quick.

I burst out laughing as they were glaring at me (very wide eyed) when I pulled into my drive. When I got out of the car in the garage all three were in the drive and asking "Why!?!" 'cause it was really funny I replied (still laughing hard). They didn't like that answer. "That was mean!" they said. I laughed some more. "It's not funny!!"

"Oh yea it was!" I replied.

I told them I wished I had a dash cam so I could post it on Youtube so everyone could see it 'cause that was funny'. "That's mean, you're not that mean" they said.

"Oh yea I am!" as I walked into the house (still laughing).

You didn't say how old they were. To me, their reaction would have been have been funny, too. More importantly, that little scare you put them through might make them pay more attention to cars and save them from being hit by a driver that didn't see them.

They're probably 7-10 years old. I'm a bad judge of age. I believe they go to elementary school with my grandaughter and are just a little bit older than her. If they were younger I wouldn't have done it.

I did mention their lack of looking both ways before heading across the street, but they had all sorts of excuses why not. I doubt they learned a whole lot from the scare either, as I noticed them not really looking when I saw them back out there a bit later.
