Found a good sawmill in Central Florida!

I consider any source of good wood a bargain, so I guess this qualifies for the "Bargain Alerts" forum.

I bought some old growth pine from The Ole General Store in Geneva today. The owner is a woodworker and enjoys selling to woodworkers. And, he's a really nice guy. Call ahead to make sure that he is in before going there.

He has some beautiful stuff mostly Florida-grown and cut. He cuts and dries most of it. He also gets in wood from out of state and out of the country.

Some examples that caught my eye ...
    > 14" wide river-recovered cypress - also wide planks of other woods, too.
    > quarter-sawn Laurel oak
    > Chinaberry
    > Sycamore
    > Magnolia
    > Mahogany -- cut in Florida!
    > Salvaged wood from old buildings
    > on and on.

    Prices aren't dirt-cheap, but fair.

Agreed. Unlike tablesaws or other tools, wood is something you are constantly in need of (note need not want!).

Wow, I'm glad to hear that guy is actually there sometimes. For several weeks in January I tried to get a hold of someone there and finally gave up. I even stopped by a couple of times because I was on my way to DeBary.

Tell me, I saw some stacks in the back yard behind the store. Is what's back there the wood he sells?

Anyhow, thanks for veryifying it's still open (sometimes)

        BobL:

Yes, the wood in back of the "store" is for sale. He also has wood inside, and at his house a mile or so from the store.

Here are two numbers to call before you go ...
        407/349-9911
        407/417-6010

        His name is Bob.

        Good luck,

        - Lonnie

Thanks much for the info Lonnie. I only had the first number from the website (which I guess is the store number).

          Thanks again,
          BobL.
