I think I am being somewhat reasonable with my targets, however getting to the uninsulated wall this year might be a bit optimistic... We'll see.
Thanks for the info. I'm definitely going into the studs, waffling between braced from below (the triangle is strong) or angle iron from the rafters. My Thein separator is a 30 gallon drum on a wheeled cart, so it will live below the DC.

My number one is a sub panel for the shop/garage. I have two open breaker slots in my main panel and if load balancing works out I might pull the trigger. Still a fairly large expense. I may try to sell it as a necessary expense for future plug in hybrid vehicle to LOML. Wish me luck on that one.

Once the snow melts I've got a little list:

          • Build a shed for all the junk in the shop (garage).
          • Move all the junk to the shed.
          • Finish the wall storage units that are sitting in pieces right now.
          • Install my HF dust collector.
          • Actually build something!
          Bob

          Bad decisions make good stories.

If it helps, I am planning on bracing with the triangle arrangement... Mostly planning on using scrap ply for the project though. Nothing fancy, just functional...

Mine will also be scrap--except for the screws. Your mention of plywood triggers the thought of using plywood gussets in the bracing--from which other stuff (levels, jigs??) could hang!!

I bought a low profile one during Black Friday and now the lawnmower and other crap live outside. I have two 6' tall shelves that could be used to store shop stuff, not garden tools.
Haven't seen anything good on CL but looked at Lowes.com and saw exactly what I wanted at a good price. It's a Suncast 171331 resin shed for $65.20. I went to the store this morning and they have a yellow clearance sticker on it for $98 (originally $163). My wife told me not to buy it but she never makes it to the backside of the house anyway, so what she doesn't know won't hurt her. She may hurt me later, though. Will be picking it up this afternoon.

Thanks for the link to the tool shed -- it was exactly what I was looking for, at a good price.

                    For me in 2013...
                    1. buy fewer tools and get better with what i have.
                    2. move DC to wall, freeing floor space.
                    3. move more storage up the walls (also 10' likeatgcpaul)
                    4. add a few more fluorescent fixtures
                    5. possibly--run a 240v outlet and convert TS and RAS for easier starting. I need another circuit run anyway, so doing it in 240 is relatively small added cost.
                    6. use some lumber for making stuff--i'm also at 50 sq ft of floor space of rough-cut cherry and oak. Plus the lumber cart at 32 sq ft!!

                    earl
Scratch #2 off the list--DC is on the wall. Still have some arranging to do, don't like how the remote switch hangs. Torsion boxes are 2 x 6, with 1/2" plywood on each side--will be nice for hanging some "smalls" from.

Bonus pics--a shot of the new saw squeezed into a free slot. Last Friday's beef top round roast--LOML is incredible!!! (that picture downloaded from my phone, thought i'd throw it in)

You work fast. Probably required the energy from that pot roast to get that DC up there.

@Paul--the pot roast was a week ago, took the energy of a 15 year old son!! That 2 hp system is heavy.

@Cochese--i'm going to give atgcpaul the nod on achievement. He's got a plan and is working it. Even committed to his own thread. I've got a few thoughts and buried them in this thread so i could forget them!!

The new garage is almost finished. I have two things on the list before I can get the final inspection. Oddly enough, the county assessor has already been here though and the final electrical passed a couple of weeks ago.

                              DONE Trim Attic Access Opening
DONE Install Shelf and Trim on Knee Wall.
                              DONE Final Building Inspection

Then it's on to the rest of the stuff.
                              DONE Garage Door Openers
                              DONE Clamp Rack
DONE Move Sheet Goods Rack from old shop
DONE Move Lumber Rack from old shop
Build and install Wall Storage Cabinets
                              Finish building Sanding Stations
                              Finish Table Saw Cart
                              Build Drill Press Table
                              Overhaul Radial Arm Saw
DONE Replace Garage Door due to a mishap with a suburban full of cheerleaders but I'm waiting for warmer weather for this one.
