    Home theater console

I've been working feverishly to get this project done before I leave for California on Tuesday. It's installed, still have 4 speakers to wire up. (7.1 surround)

This project was born of need, I needed help so that people wouldn't hip check the tv when walking past it, and my surround system needed a better home. It's oak plywood and solid oak. Frame and panel rear as it'll be visible from that side (partially anyway), slots cut in for ventilation. Grommets for the massive number of wires that are involved are cut into the top and the shelf, exiting the rear. The finish is Minwax English chestnut w/ EM6000 (target coatings spray acrylic lacquer). About 5-6 coats of lacquer depending upon which surface was involved.

Drawers were of simple construction as they are not huge and will hold only DVDs and Blurays, so not much weight there. Mortise and loose tenon butt joints with 1/4" bottoms in a dado, installed with 12" accuride slides.

Here are some pics from Flickr.

Why not make one of your own. You've got all of us (7,034) as helpers. Distant of course.
