Woodcraft "tent sale" @ 40% today
Some of these items are a good value IMO:
Solid carbide 8mm up-cut spiral bit (1/2" shank) for $23. It does not specifically say (presumably for contractual reasons), but I think this is a Whiteside bit. ![]() Solid carbide counter-bore bit (1/2" shank) for $15. Again, I think this is a Whiteside bit. ![]() CMT 5/32" (biscuit size) flush cutter bit (including arbor and bearing) for $15. ![]() DMT 1200 grit mini diamond sharpener for $5.69. This is great for quickly touching-up carbide tips. ![]() The sale ends at midnight PST today, or when they "run out." Last edited by Chris_B; 07-15-2010 at 02:14 PM. Reason: Added pictures |

Thanks for the heads up.
I got 10-8oz hammers and 10 saws. And it wasn't enough for free shipping. So I threw in a band clamp and some screws. The hammers and saws are for our summer camp. the boys love wood working projects. |

Anyone have any experience with the Zip Slot Motise Mill or Pocket Zip SLot Mortise Mill? Seems like a good deal for th eprice but are they any good. Don't do a lot of M&T but seems like a nice setup.

These Zip Slot tools make mortises along a board edge or on the end of the board. The "pocket" model can reach up to 1 inch from the edge of a board, the larger one can go 2 inches into a board. The "Pocket" one can does 1/4inch mortises; the larger one comes with a bit for 3/8ths mortises, with add-on bushing & drill bit sets for 1/4 and 1/2 inch mortises available for $25 and $33 respectively. (though Woodcraft also has the add-on kits on clearance for less right now) Neither jig can make mortises for "inside cabinet" type of joints - i.e. a fixed shelf inside the box (where you might consider a dado) because of those 1" or 2" reach limits. Also, they can only do 90 degree joints unlike some of the biscuit or Domino tools with adjustable fence angles... so the Zip Slot systems won't reinforce a picture frame miter for example. The magazine's final note on these items: "The drilling process is slow compared to biscuit joiners, Freud, and Festool." One extra feature though: with the handles moved to either end point, the Zip Slot tools become doweling jigs. mpc Last edited by mpc; 07-18-2010 at 02:04 PM. |
