    What Tool Is This?

This is a tool that can be guessed from clues. I'll start off with a few...

CLUE #1. The tool now is basically obsolete.

CLUE #2. It was made of metal.

CLUE #3. Some members here have never seen one or used one.

CLUE#4. It was a very common tool, that had only one purpose.

That's a well thought out answer...but the wrong one.

CLUE #5. This is a tool, not a machine, and not electric or battery powered.

CLUE #6. It is not a wrench of any kind.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

Brace? Egg beater drill? VCR head puller? Ignition wrenches?
My guess is that whatever you declare obsolete, somebody will declare it is not.

I have several and still use them. Thanks for guessing.

Some very intelligent guesses, close, but no cigar.

I never thought of a 35mm SLR camera as a tool. I guess it could be, but its not the right answer.

Seems like that's what happens. I still use my brace, and my egg beater drill. I have ignition wrenches but likely won't be using them. Thanks for the guess, try again.
