    Where are we?

Here's a poll, I know its weighted to the US, but that is historically where we are mostly.

The US locations are based upon regions defined for the US census.

The others I was limited by the number of total entries - 15.

Sorry Connecticut, I put CN instead of CT. Not editable.

Weird that Georgia and Maryland are both considered South Atlantic. Always considered it mid-Atlantic. Gotta' check my map.

Hard to choose, as I live in WV, on the ohio border, and work in Ohio. Born and raised in Ohio, so I still think I live in Ohio.

I'll work on the annexation process at some point.

I'm just about as far South as you can get in TX...I do tend to discount 'the valley'...maybe I should say I'm just about as far south in TX as you can get and still live in a fairly large city.

The names are made up by people who have never been to these areas. Western North Carolina is a world apart from Eastern North Carolina, much less Maryland or Georgia respectively.

Don't worry, they also lumped CA, AK, and HI in the same region.

There were a lot of regional groupings to chose from, I decided to use the US Census bureau one for various reasons. "Your government at work."

I guess this is the first time I've ever seen New York State referred to as the "Mid-Atlantic", but to each his own. We refer to our location as the "Northeast" (and everything northeast of us, as New England).

Whatever, I'm in the southern tier of NY, but even that has some contention with regard to labelling, as in the past we've often been called "upstate". But of course everything is "upstate" if you think in terms of "The City".

I consider where I live to be deep south or Gulf Coast. Maybe 10 to 15 minutes from the FL panhandle. We do the bulk of our shopping in Pensacola. East South Central certainly does not come to mind. Gulf States or Hurricane Alley would also be more accurate I think.

I wonder how much we paid to devise that Census Zone Nomenclature?

I will say that some make more sense than others.

Now you're just rubbing it in! Beautiful. If all of my family didn't live in the Northeast, MidAtlantic, whatever, my wife and I would have picked up and moved to WA state by now. My wife went to college at Western.

I can draw a map of the US with all of the states in the right places, close to the right sizes and shapes, etc. However, if asked to circle census groupings above (by name, not state list obviously) I bet I wouldn't have been much above 60% accurate. Interesting choices.
