Where to find shims for BT3000

Seems its discontinued everywhere, except Sears. Would hurt me to give them anymore business. Incident in 2003, with 14 technician warranty call-outs in 14 weeks, before they caved in and replaced my freezer.

    Three choices:
    • buy from Sears parts
    • buy some shim stock and make your own
    • upgrade to BT3100 style

Possible fourth choice would be if each shim has at least one good tab that can be on the bottom then install shim supports ala Norm's shim fix linked in my article on shims.

Once again perhaps it is time I go into business making shims.........

Sears is out on front shims. On removal its the front ones I need. The new back shims have arrived, but need now to find front. Any ideas? Making my own is a last resort. From the image, can this one be repaired? All the tabs are ok.

Also found these on ebay. Are they the same thing?? Labelled for both 3000 and 3100??

Should be fine - I've used worse. Just flatten out the bent part and install them properly. They will tend to flatten out with use.

those on ebay are the wavey shims for the BT3100 design. Not sure they can be used without changing some other parts, I think.

I straightened the old shim as best I could, replaced and its very tight on the UP motion. Down is OK. Will wait to see if it gets better.

Keep it lubed... I find Johnson's paste wax works best.
