Live nature shots - bears and salmon in Alaska

nothiong to do with wood or politics.
Its salmon run time in Alaska and here's a live webcam of Brooks falls in Katmai Nat'l park, right now you can see salmon jumping upstream at the falls and grizzly bears wading around the base of the falls looking for an easy meal. Watch for a while the camera moves around tracking the action.

Explore.org is the world's leading philanthropic live nature cam network and documentary film channel. Our mission is to champion the selfless acts of others, create a portal into the soul of humanity and inspire lifelong learning. Watch nature unfold live right now!

At this minute i see three bears and many salmon jumping every minute. they say its better in the late afternoon/early evening.

I didn't watch the whole clip, as I was falling asleep. Waterfalls always makes me drowsy. None of the bears seemed to get very lucky. Maybe they need nets or something.

The falls look like The Great Smoky Mountain Natl. Park in East Tennessee and Western N.Car. Bears sure are different though. And the only salmon we see is in a grocery or restaurant.

Heck I live in Alaska and watch that site every day. It will get much better in a few weeks when the run gets better.

Its 10PM here, probably 8PM and still light in Alaska, I see 5 bears and one or two is clearly chomping on a salmon. I keep cheering for the salmon but it looks really tough to jump the falls, very few seem to make it Maybe they try many times each.

hecks its midnight here in TX but theres still light in AK.

I was thinking it would be better for the bears if they were on top of the falls.

I think they like to wait for fish that jump short to bonk themselves silly on the rocks and float back dazed downstream. Then the bears have an easy time catching them... A swimming fish is not that easy to catch.

Maybe the bears should get nets.

Just counted 12 bears. (It's almost 11 PM here.) Has anyone seen a salmon make it up yet?

yeah i've seen a few. I wonder how many average tries it takes a salmon to make it up.

I've been watching for about 5 minutes, 10 bears, and only one has caught anything so far... I think its a little after 7:30 Alaska time.

just looked and theres a bear by the little island to the right munching on a salmon now. They go and eat them on the island a lot. The camera is panned back and forth sometimes zoomed (human control?) so youcan't always see the island. The fish activity is low right now compared to last night... they were jumping almost continuously. Mebbe they all get et up.

11:30 Am There are only 4 bears but lots of birds. No fish to be seen. Better go to McDonald's if you're hungry guys.
