Probably best to check before relying on a particular discount. Some are probably legit, but there are likely other errors it the list.

I guess the lesson is, always ask, there are a lot of places offering senior discounts, it never hurts to ask.

I would not think to ask at Htoels, rental cars but maybe I will now.

I often ask and get at restaurants, movies, museums,

A lot of them post it at the entrance, always scan the signs. I think cashiers are told not to ask, not because they don't want to give it to you but because they don't want to offend anyone by suggesting they are , ahem, old.

And upon declaring myself a senior, I have never, ever been asked to provide any proof. I'm always honest, I have asked and they said 65 and said, too bad for me, I'm only 62.

I wondered if all were legit or not. I don't argue with LOML, even if it is on the internet?

I do know that there are lots of discounts out there and often forget to ask. I have been with co-workers who always do and when they do ask, I ask also. I often get my free coffee at McDs and get a 10% at Wendy's - when I go there.

I worked at McDonald's during summertime in HS. I think our senior discount day was Tuesday. There was a couple who would come in religiously on that day and they'd come in around 3 or 4pm when the store was dead. The wife did all the talking except when her husband ordered his hamburger--well done and plain. His burger came out like a hockey puck--they cooked it twice. She was a piece of work but once they became my "regulars" I was prepared.

The first couple of times she'd insist I brew a fresh pot of decaf because she didn't know how long the pot had been sitting there. 15 year olds just should argue with old people. I learned that fast. Anyway, by the third time or so, as soon as I saw them walk in, I'd already have the old pot dumped, rinsed, and back on the coffee maker with a fresh bag on and dripping. They'd place their order and I'd bring them their food over by the window.

I also ask about military discounts. Spent a bunch at AutoZone before I found out they discount 5% to military. 10% off at Lowe's and HD.

I certainly hope they are not all correct. I can't believe there wouldn't be some story about a prostitution bust based on the "happy ending" listing.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Here are three links to pages that list discounts: There seems to be a few discrepencies between the first list and some of these:

Read our most up-to-date list of senior discounts. Save on everything including groceries, clothing, travel, restaurants and more!

As baby boomers reach retirement age, hundreds of retailers are featuring new and improved discounts exclusively for the 55 and older crowd.

Extensive lists of Senior Discounts for hotels, cruises, restaurants, stores, travel deals, and much more

If that were the case, they'd pretty much just drop their price across the board since I'd bet 55+ is well over half their customer base.
