If I remember right we use to figure a empty concrete truck was 25,000 lb. add 35,000 lb. for concrete. Also, concrete truck drivers are really bad about washing out their trucks on the build site so they will not have to chip out concrete when they get back to the yard, if they get stuck in traffic and the remainder hardens in their truck. I usually write in the contractor that the contractor provides a container for waste wash out. ( a M1 Bradley battle tank weighs 68,000 lbs. and it will bust a 6" concrete slab.)

It's very likely to damage the driveway. The trucks are in the range of 30T fully loaded. They definitely will break a concrete drive (had that experience), and residential asphalt is too soft and not well enough supported to support that weight. Best case, the truck will leave tire ruts, but the damage could be worse. FWIW, a 30T triaxle is enough to crack a concrete drive, in my experience, and you are looking at twice that.

Disclaimer: I haven't tried it on asphalt, but have tried it on concrete.

I understand that some concrete co's have some much smaller trucks that carry 4 yards or less. Their purpose is situations like yours, they don't rut up the lawn or destroy the driveway quite as bad as their big bro's. I've never seen one though, maybe your area has them.

I don't have a clue. My knowledge of concrete trucks is about 10x what it was when I posted the original msg. Thanks for all the info.

                  You're looking at 30 to 40,000 lbs!

I see a new driveway in your future!
You might think I haven't contributed much to the world, but a large number
of the warning labels on tools can be traced back to things I've done...

Just talked to my neighbor; he's going to make sure the concrete company finds another approach. He wasn't at all upset. So things are working out great as long as you're wrong.
