    word from Rod Kirby

Seeing the old articles reposted and scanning the many ones from Rod Kirby made me think of him so I emailed...
I mentioned that BT3Central is slowing down some.
    Here's his response from Melbourne:

    Hi there :-)

I guess “slowing down” (everywhere), is the key phrase!

I sold the Vespa (too old to want to ride now L). Given WW a rest and into Lego (Technic) now – relaxing and interesting.

Carole doing fine – we’re both slowing down as we get older.

    Great to hear from you.

    Regards – Rod & Carole.

Aren't we all. I kinda go in spurts, in more ways than one. Right now I am in full active mode getting some renovations done at home. This summer traveling to watch Granddaughter play in some ASA softball tournaments and Grandson's in their Baseball and Scouts. Youngest granddaughter is working on the second phase of getting her 1st degree Black Belt so she has 2 more years to go. Can't get it until she is 13 will be 11 next week and has her Junior BB. So I have until Schools out to complete home projects. Glad to hear Rod and Carole are doing well and stay as active as possible. Wife ran over something in her Mini Cooper and dented the old pan not bad but should be replace if it start leaking. Will take a look this week and see what it involved in doing it my self and if I can get it up high enough to get under it to work on, ugh at 72 not fun.

T B Roye, I thought that the original Mini was hard to work on until I started looking at the BMW Mini. Some repairs look impossible. The oil pan replacement man be one of the easier jobs on it.

Loring, thanks for posting this. With the health problems Rod experienced in the last year or 2, he was one I was particularly worried about.

T.B., at 66 opening the hood ain't always fun, let alone turning wrenches.

Thanks for posting! I'm not around as much as I used to be, but I do miss seeing posts from some of the guys that got me interested in woodworking 12+ years ago.

I too thank you for posting. Rod Kirby is the guy that got my juices flowing probably some 20-30 years ago here. He always took grief for a clean shop - wonder what his Lego work station looks like?

So glad to hear Rod is in good health.

This is my old tribute to Rod's clean shop. I hate to tell you what it looks like today.

This forum is for any topic that you would normally talk about at the office "around the coffee pot". Jokes, tall tales, and true stories are welcome as long as they are clean and in good taste. I only ask that you steer away from topics on religion or politics. Go ahead and pull up a chair and pour yourself a cup of coffee and enjoy the conversation.
