I've posted about this project a few times during the construction phase, it's finally done. I shall endevour to present some additional construction information (mini-plan?) in the near future.
It is a baby changing table for my Niece - Elisabeth, but also a dresser for use after she's outta diapers. The two drawers are constructed with reinforced rabbet joinery, and are strengthened in the middle so as not to sag. They are built from 1/2" birch and baltic birch plywood. The cabinet is from BORG red oak plywood and solid red oak from a semi-local lumber company. The drawer faces are from quilted maple (stole it at 2.50$ a bf).
The drawers are on rockler 100lb runners, the embossed moldings are also from rockler. The crest rail design is a bezier spline rendered via truspace and then I made a template from MDF, then the rail. The railling molding is from the local BORG, also Red Oak.
The Oak is stained with minwax red mahogany, the maple is left natural, and varnished with 5 coats of wipe on poly (gloss). Total cost of materials was around 250$. I don't figure that you could buy one this nice at the price, so I'm happy.
I'd like to thank everyone here for the suggestions made along the line, this is probably my finest piece as of yet.
Let me know what you all think, I appreciate it.
