    Adjustable Assembly Table

From Shop Notes 30:5, with one modification. I made the height adjustable to 38 1/2" (instaed of 30") so it can also serve as an outfeed table for the BT. Two side wings open to expand the surface (one open). Paint didn't come out well along edges, despite using Kilz as a sealer.

Nice, Doc! How does the height adjustmet work.

I've been thinking of changing my outfeed table to something like this. Timely post.

That looks real sweet... Like JR said, I'm also in the market for outfeed support and that just got put in the running!

Height adjustment: holes in top of red posts match with holes in support columns. A 1" dowel keeps it where you want it. You can see the dowel at the top of the support posts that attach the top. Just below you can see holes in the red posts. Lift up, insert dowels, done. Mine is adjustable in approx. 3" increments up to full 38 1/2" total from the floor.

This is all MDF except for the banding and the slide-out wing supports, I used poplar. VERY heavy, but the Lee Valley casters make it easy to move, and easy to lock when needed.

My personal favorite colors are purple and green but they just didn't seem right for a shop! Thus the Craftsman (or Milwaukee) red.

Very nice, been thinking about building the same one too. How long did it take you?

Only about a week, working on it 3-4 hrs a day. A few mistakes added to the time!

Seems like lifting it for adjustment might be tricky, what with the size and weight...? Or is actually fairly easy?

You lift one end at a time - heavy but doable. I usually get LOML to help (pop a dowel in the other side).

I'll post some pics of mine today...
