    Really small shop

Moving from a two car garage shop to a 12 x 12 outbuilding might put a crimp in some guys working conditions. Not mine! Just careful planning. Had to forgo a few things, like my BT3000 extension table, but I don't do many big projects anymore. Here's some different views including my DC system for the new Sharkguard. Thanks Lee, I love it! Lots of the tools like the Delta planer and the jointer/planer need to be moved out from the walls to be used, but it seems to work.

Very organized and very clean. I may "borrow" your dust collection idea for the BT3.

That's not so small! I've seen a couple of forum members shops posted on this site that make that look huge. I think it may just be the grass being greener or in your case just a feeling of loss of the 2 car garage. I remember when I had to share a 1 1/2 car garage with a full sized car. That was a production before I could even start to work. You have a nice selection of tools (all set up) that I couldn't even start to fit in those days.

Glad I have a separate 800 sq ft shop now

        Heh Joe,
Nice work on organizing things! May I borrow a few ideas?

            Good optimized layout...

'am thinking of doing something similar, except that for as many tools as needed, I'm intending to use the Herc-U-Lift bases, so I can move them (BT31k, planer, jointer, router, 2section workbench) from the wall (when not in use) to the middle of the work area. Got me a couple of those HF 30" hi $9 sawhorses so that they could be used at the in/outfeed areas for these machines. Also thinking of dropping down the suction hoses to the middle of the work area. Basically would move the machines to the central work area when in use...

              Looks good to me

              Hey Joe -

Looks to me like you're taking lemons and making lemonade, bro. Maximum use of space with minimum fuss. Looks like you've got every tool needed, saw, sander, router table, planer/jointer, lathe, DP, the whole banana. I like the idea of your suspended vac system, and the routing of vac to the BT.

              sounds solid to me.

Looks good! I cannot imagine working in a space that small. Hope it works well for you.

How does the shop vac dust collector system work out for you? I like that idea and can't afford a dedicated DC yet.

It sure looks you have made the most of the space you have.

Glad to see it can be done. My new shop will be 11'-6" X 11'-6" when I move in this Spring.

Nice shop. I like the way you have organized it.

Do you have trouble with the vac hose coming down and getting in the way with rips?

                          nah...

I was using an 7 x 10 space when I moved in, until now, about 4 years. Well, I must add that I use the word "use" loosely. I'm not sure I'd call an 7x10 space as usable in the right sense of the word. so, when does a shop not be a shop and just a place to store tools and contain dust when cutting?

well, I'm expanding now and will get a 12x16 space.

                          nice shop.
