    Featherboard idea

One of the frustrating things about my BT3100 was the lack of mitre slots to mount a conventional featherboard into. Without getting the DMST, I found a solution:

I got an All-in-one 24" clamp and matching featherboard. This clamps front-to-back, usually on the SMT like in the attached photo. I wound up getting a set for Christmas, but kept forgetting to post something about it until now.

While the clamp and accessories are a little expensive, you could also get the router plate and use it to do dados, so it would be a multi-purpose tool.

        Ingenious.

Not only ingenious, but also a bit of a forehead-slapper for me, since I have that exact same clamp hanging on my shop wall.

My BT does have a miter slot (four of 'em, actually: I have a DMST on both sides) but this idea will be handy for times when the workpiece is too wide to allow a featherboard to be fitted to one of those.

I agree with all of the above. Great idea and the clamp is usable in many many other ways too.

Thanks! You caught me. I staged the photo, mostly for illustrative purposes.

The area right behind the saw is the usual parking spot for it, and I hadn't pulled it out completely because I was doing some dados and rabbets on smaller pieces, so didn't need the clearance.

When I'm doing really long work, I generally turn it 90 degrees counter-clockwise, which gives me about 14' or so of clearance. My shop is in the basement, but is about the size and shape of a one car garage. You're currently looking at one of the side walls of the "garage".
