My new shop - pic intensive

I finally have my new shop almost complete and thought it would be a good time to post some pics before it gets so messy that pics might cause Rod a heart attack

I retired April 1st of this year and with LOML's blessings I took pay for my builtup annual leave instead of the time and set up a new shop. My old shop was just a 10'X12' storage shed and things were pretty tight. My new shop is not much bigger at 12'X14' but it is insulated and finished inside so that I can have air conditioning and heating AND I still have the old shop for storage and I also keep a few tools there like my planer and jointer which I don't use all that often.

My new shop, you can also see the old one(small white building).

Farther around to the right is my Jet 12" bandsaw and my Ridgid OS belt sander along with the Ryobi belt/disk sander.

Along the left wall I have built in cabinets with my drumsander mounted between them so that they act as infeed/outfeed tables for it. In the back corner is my dust collection(Lowes closeout GMC collector with a trash can with cyclone lid under it, the dust bag is a 1 micron from Grizzly) It works suprisingly well.

One of my favorite features of the new shop is the mobile work bench that also acts as an outfeed table for my BT3 and most of the dustcollection hookups are attached to the back of itClick image for larger version

The bench also has lots of storage.

I also built a router table extension for the BT3 and I have a Rouseau lift with a PC VS router in it. The router snaps in and out of the lift very easily if I need it for free hand work. The router fence is the Craftsman pro that I bought off ebay for $34.95 last year. I also have my old Craftsman router and table set up in the old shed in case I need two setups for a project.

The shop set up is nicely done. Very organized. It looks bigger than it is.

Very nicely done and smart to keep the old one around for storage instead of knocking it down to make room for a bigger shop.

Like you said, Don, still not the size most of us dream of, but well thought out. Enjoy!

I am envious, I still need to make do with a corner of the garage. Your AC makes me doubly jealous. I am in Phoenix and we have just hit triple digits and it will still be going up from here.

I have to make do with a large recirc fan, it helps but fitting AC in the garage is just too much.

              Enjoy your new shop.

                  Nice!

Well thought out and nicely implemented. I like the outfeed table. I'm thinking of re-purposing a cabinet for just that purpose - you've given me a shot in the arm!

                      Don,

Looks like a great use of space. Very well organized. Makes the space go a lot further.

Nice looking. One advantage for me is that I would have to finish anything in that shop before starting new clutter. Nice design.
