Panel SquareUp on TS with Clamp-n-Tool Guide

After posting this idea in another thread, I thought a few pictures might be useful. The idea is nothing new -- attaching a straight edge to a panel to square it up on the TS using the rip fence -- but using a clamp-n-tool guide may not be straight forward. So, here goes:

First, you have to clip off the ears of the sliding block so the clamp can ride against the TS fence:

Then, use a framing square to set the clamp square to a known straight edge on your panel. (Start with the clamp lever in the up position):

Make sure the clamp hangs over the edge of the workpiece for the entire length. It doesn't have to overhang much:

Now, you're ready to cut. Notice the lever is locked in the horizontal position, so it doesn't catch on the table:

Don't hesitate to use a long guide, as long as you have room for it. It'll register to the fence even better before you start the cut:

When I read your post in the other thread about squaring a panel off the rip fence, I was curious. Thanks for the pics, they really explain the concept very clearly.

Maybe I should have put this in tutorials?

Mods, feel free to move it as you see fit....

This is one of those 'doh' moments. As soon as I saw it, it was so obvious.

          Thanks Tom.
