    Sam and Adele

    Forum members,

Sam and Adele are totally UNaware of what is about to be shared with you in this post, but they will find out.

Life has thrown a whopper at Sam and Adele recently. We (a few friends that are aware of the situation and the moderators also) are asking if you might be able to help them out in some way, since they have been the ones to bring us together as an online family and community through this forum.

Adele had a wreck a couple of months ago and had surgery scheduled about 3 days later. The surgery wasn't related to the car wreck and had been planned for months in advance.

A few weeks ago, while still recovering from surgery, she had a setback and had to be readmitted to the hospital for almost a week.

Of course, the wreck totalled her vehicle and they were forced to purchase a replacement vehicle... ending up with a car payment. In addition to the extra hospital bills and doctor co-payments they are dealing with, their other van started making a knocking noise as Sam and their son David were returning from a hiking trip down in Tennessee. The engine threw a rod and it was totally blown out. Probably $3000 to $3500 for a van that's worth about $2000 now.

I am not going to tell Sam how I found this out - but - there is a low mileage 12 year old station wagon in the town where he lives for a decent price, around $2000, and he would love to purchase it. But with the new vehicle purchased after the wreck and the additional medical bills from the setback, he does not want to incur another car payment at the moment.

All this to say. . . do you think we could raise some money on the forum to help Sam and Adele out? Everyone has been GREAT about fundraising to keep the site up and running. I'm thinking with the type of people that we have on BT3Central that we could raise the money within a few days!

Fellows, ladies, is there any way you can see to help Sam and Adele? They have done a lot for many many people on this forum and for many that we do not even know.

Suggestions or ideas on how you may be able to help out would be appreciated.

Hank Lee on behalf of all of the moderators - Thom, David and Lee

I would imagine based on everything I've seen on this site that all you need is a point of contact. I for one would be more than happy to help out.

I would be happy to contribute if there were some way to do that. Perhaps one of the moderators or some other member could set up a PayPal account where $$$ could be sent for this purpose.

I remembered that Sam set up a Paypal account some time ago for collecting donations to help keep the site up and running. I just went there and it's still available. Anyone interested can Paypal to the donation account which is:

PayPal is the faster, safer way to send and receive money or make an online payment. Get started or create a merchant account to accept payments.

        Sam's donation account:

        give@bt3Central.com

I'm sure Sam and Adele will greatly appreciate the help!

Not sure how this is gonna work because people have to sorta know how far along we are.

So I just sent $25 via PayPal. If other contributors wanna say how much they've sent, we can kinda track our progress.

Good luck guys, I hope all the crap is behind you.

                Lee,

I'm in for $50.00. Include a note with your paypal payment that this is for the personal use of Sam and Adele, so there is no confusion with the forum non-profit account.

I never thought about that and had already sent it. I sent $50 that is intended for Sam and Adele so hopefully this post will indicate that to them.

Sorry to hear about the bad news. This caught me at really a bad time, but I'll see what I can do through PayPal.

I don't think we should worry about going over (there are always plates and gas, etc.)--maybe keep track only to let people know if it comes out under.
