My Shop Cabinet (as per Tom Ward)

My first shop cabinet based on the book by Tom Clark: “Practical Shop Cabinets”.
I must be bloody slow though, it took me 70 plus hours to complete it.
I used ¾” (actually more like 11/16”) paint-grade birch plywood(that’s what the lumberyard called it) for both the cabinet and the drawer boxes. Cheap, about $40Can. per sheet. Doorskin material, 5.5mm Mersawa plywood, was used for the drawer bottoms. I had some old ¼” wall panel material, which I used for the cabinet’s back.
The drawer boxes were installed so that the fronts were set back about 1/16” from the front surface of the cabinet, I then used 9mm(about 3/8”) Baltic birch plywood for the drawer fronts
I wiped on 2 coats of MinWax waterbased polycrylic with a light sanding between coats.
Total cost for all material $309Can.
Here are some pictures of the cabinet and some stages of construction:

A little jig made from MDF helps to keep the drawer slide aligned to the plywood runner:

Installing the drawer slides/runners to the cabinet sides and centre bulkheads. I used my cutting guide to align the runners:

Thanks for looking. Comments, questions always welcome.

Worked like a charm, adjustable heigth, in 12" increments. I now have to buy a new top for it though because the top is now the cabinet top.

Nice! Installing the drawer guides before cabinet assembly is an interesting choice. Makes them easy to get to.

                        Wow.

I agree with Pappy - beautiful. That must be a very high-end shop for such a nice piece.

                          Do you mean Tom Clark?

Nice cabinet, agree with Pappy on running out of drawer space, except I'll give you 90 days. Seems like the more you have, the more you need.

Nice job. By any chance, were you inspired by Norm's Workbench Hutch project on NYW? It's very similar, minus the actual hutch on top. That's my ideal Workshop v2.0.

On your drawers, how did you assemble them? In the picture it looks like you just nailed for sides together, no rabbet or anything. Is that correct?
