Post New Ridgid Hybrid Saw - R4511

Ridgid has unveiled a new hybrid saw called the R4511. It features a granite top, enclosed base, large handwheels, steel t-square fence, and the Herculift. No reports on motor or trunnion details, and no indications about a riving knife. Rumor has it that it will retail at $600, making it an outstanding price if it turns out to be a solid design.

It appears to have some common ground with the Steel City/Orion hybrids...the granite top is one clue, the cabinet that resembles the Craftsman 22114 is another, and the motor cover is yet a third strong clue. If that suspicion turns out to be true, I wonder if it's got cabinet mounted trunnions like the other SC/Orion hybrids?

That seems like quite a bit of saw for $600.

Wonder how the granite top will hold up to metal tenoning jigs, etc., being slid across it over the years?

Pass on the Granite topped saw... Sounds like a neat idea, but I have horrible visions of busting one of them...

From the pic, that looks like a splitter and not a true riving knife...

Gonna have to pass on that...

I'd be surprised if it is actually $600. But it will probably be dollar for dollar a top value with all the others at 700+. But if it is they will sell a lot of units.

Looks like a regular splitter. I love those handwheels and the mobile base. I can't tell much about the fence but it looks like a t-square of some type. Lot to like.

Weren't the new table saws being introduced required to have riving knives? The splitter(?) on the Ridgid looks different than the one on the Craftsman.

If it's got a riving knife, it might just be worth looking at. I am still concerned about that Granite top though...
