    Hardware cabinet finally finished

Started this in December, based on the cabinet in ShopNotes (74).

Learned a lot from this project, especially how changing one dimension ripples through a thousand others. Also learned how many dadoes are required to make cubbys in a drawer. Small drawers are 3" high, large ones 6". Material is birch ply for the case and top, pine drawer fronts and poplar edging. Finish is multiple coats of spar poly. Will be nice not to have hardware falling all over me from the shelves and those cheapy plastic thingys I've been using.

Beautiful job, Ken! I have some cabinets to build for my work room and am thinking about one similar to that.

Looks great, Ken! I agree about the funky plastic drawers. One idea that just came to mind was whether there might be some elegant method of making the cubby floors have fronts that curved upward gradually. You'd lose a little storage space, but would gain the ability to scoop parts forward and up without trapping them in the corner and having to pick painstakingly. Maybe just a piece of cove molding?

That is a GREAT PROJECT for the shop. Of course, it looks good enough to be a great project for the house.

I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose you could Dave. Might look at it.

Thanks for all the positive comments, this was a real learning project and thanks to Ken Massingale for being my sounding board during the process.

Very nice, Ken. It's on casters, too! It should work out well in your shop.
